National Police Remembrance Day Today, the community of Ingham came together to pay tribute to the brave men and women of the Queensland Police Service who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Read the full storyFrom Airlie Beach to Port Douglas, 170 riders and support crew will travel more than 1,000 kilometres across some of North Queensland’s most scenic and lesser-travelled roads. Tour de Cure is heading north and they stopped by in Hinchinbrook for their Day 4-5 leg yesterday. Many came out to cheer the cyclists as they rode into the TYTO Parklands on Monday afternoon, meeting the heroes doing this great trek for a cure. Holding signs and with big smiles, Ingham locals got to wave them 'good luck!' as they departed from Borello Park Tuesday morning.
For the participants this isn’t just a ride, it’s a powerful movement to help cure cancer. Tour de Cure is a cancer-agnostic organisation, meaning funds raised support a wide range of cancer research, support services, and prevention projects. The fundraising goal for Signature Tour 2025 is $2 million, and with $1,567,806 raised, they are so close to that goal.
Mark Beretta, Tour de Cure Board Member & Ambassadors, and Sports Presenter on Channel 7’s Sunrise commented that he was “Super excited to be experiencing this part of the world again on the bike! It’s just magic and we love the different landscapes and scenery, but best of all it’s the people that make it great!"
