There is something special about a community festival that gives everyone an excuse to come together, and Cardwell Seafest is once again shaping up to be one of those weekends.
From Friday 2nd October to Sunday 4th October, Cardwell will come alive with live music, markets, food, entertainment and plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy the community spirit.
Friday night will kick off the celebrations with a dress-up party at the Marine Hotel featuring live music from Craig Phelps, while Cardwell Country Club will host barefoot bowls with live music from Wayne Tucker.
Saturday will bring the rockabilly flavour to Cardwell, as the NQIB Rockabilly Car 'n' Bike Show takes over from 9am. Alongside the classic cars and bikes will be live music, food vans, ice cream, coffee and plenty of entertainment, with prizes for the best-dressed rockabilly outfits and best-decorated wheels.
The afternoon and evening will continue at the Cardwell Jetty, with live music from Andy G, kids' activities, games, a limbo competition, treasure hunt and chalk art. The evening will feature a licensed bar, Big BBQ Sizzle, raffles and meat trays, followed by live music from The Cassidy Connection and the Cardwell Rocks fireworks at 8:30pm.
Sunday will bring a full day of family entertainment, starting with the Euramo Boar & Barra Bash Kids Fishing Competition on the jetty, followed by markets, food vans, live music, the Kids Zone activities, and face painting.
The day will also feature the popular pie-eating and prawn-peeling competitions, Puppies on Parade, Chuck a Mullet, kids' fancy dress, the Op Shop Kids Lolly Toss and a monster raffle, before the weekend wraps up with Jag The Joker at the Marine Hotel.
Whether you come for the cars, music, competitions, food, markets or simply the chance to spend time by the water with family and friends, Seafest offers something for everyone.
Most importantly, events like this are an opportunity to support local businesses, community groups and the people who work hard behind the scenes to make Cardwell a great place to live and visit.
