A 14-year-old boy has been charged following an alleged armed robbery at a Goondi Bend business, while Queensland Police Service (QPS) officials continue to seek information about a number of stolen vehicles across the Far North.
Innisfail Police allege the teenager entered a business on Palmerston Drive at about 12:30pm on Thursday 6th August, and threatened staff with a knife before stealing cash. No one was physically injured during the incident.
The boy was arrested a short time later, with Child Protection Investigation Unit detectives charging him with one count each of robbery with violence and stealing. He appeared in the Innisfail Children’s Court on Monday 17th August.
Meanwhile, police are seeking public assistance to locate vehicles stolen across the Far North in recent weeks.
Among those reported stolen are a black 2021 MG ZST taken from Cairns North, a white 2011 Mitsubishi Pajero stolen from Edmonton, a red 2003 Hino FC Series tip truck taken from Mareeba and a green 2008 Subaru Forester stolen from Earlville.
QPS said 31 vehicles had been reported stolen in the month, bringing the 2026 total to 491. In 2025, 808 vehicles were reported stolen. QPS are reminding motorists to lock their vehicles, remove valuables, secure spare keys and ensure homes and vehicles are kept secure.
