The Cardwell RSL Sub Branch has donated $11,200 to local schools, community groups, events and charitable causes so far in 2026, with volunteers taking pride in supporting the wider Cardwell and District community.

The donations, made between January 1 and August 10, have supported a broad range of local initiatives, including schools, community events, sporting activities and cancer fundraising.

The Sub Branch said its community involvement also provides veterans with the opportunity to connect with the wider community while working alongside fellow volunteers.

“Our principal aim is to look after our veterans, and that remains paramount. However, this voluntary work enables our veterans to socially interact with the wider public and is a great team-building experience for all,” said Robert Lang, President of the Cardwell RSL Sub Branch.

The organisation also congratulated Thea Ormond and her committee on the success of the Australian UFO Festival weekend across Cardwell.

“Our congratulations to Thea Ormond and her committee for organising such a wonderful weekend of events,” said Robert.
