Get Prepared, With The Mayor

Mayor Teresa Millwood uses her Waste Disposal Voucher – have you?

‍

This week Mayor Teresa Millwood led by example using her Waste Disposal Voucher after clearing her property in preparation for disaster season.

‍

Council encourages all residents to remain on high alert despite a drier start to the season.

“Cassowary Coaster’s are built different when it comes to severe weather,” shared Council.

‍

“A drier start to the season doesn’t mean we can afford to be complacent. Now is the time to get ready.”

‍

Every rate payer in the region has received a waste disposal voucher with their latest rate notice.

This voucher can be used to dispose of a load of eligible dry household waste.

‍

“It’s a great chance to clear out unwanted items around your home and yard before monsoon rains and cyclone season get underway,” said Council.

‍

The Get ready Queensland campaign encourages all residents to:

‍

  • Check your insurance
  • Clear your gutters
  • Secure loose outdoor items
  • Use your waste voucher
  • Check your emergency kit
  • Make a household emergency plan
