Water Main Upgrades To Begin In Halifax And Cordelia

Residents and road users in Halifax and Cordelia are being advised to expect changes around Eddleston Drive and Halifax Road as Hinchinbrook Shire Council begins a major water main upgrade.

Approximately one kilometre of water main infrastructure will be upgraded in the area, with works scheduled to commence on Monday 31st August and expected to continue until Friday 11th September.

The project forms part of Council’s 2026-2027 Budget and is aimed at upgrading essential water infrastructure serving the local area.

During the works, traffic control will be in place and motorists are advised to allow additional travel time, with minor delays expected. Temporary single-lane closures may also be required while construction is underway.

Council has advised that further updates will be provided to the community as more information about the progress of the water main upgrade becomes available.

Residents and road users are encouraged to take care when travelling through the work area and follow all traffic control directions while crews are carrying out the upgrades.

Council thanked the community for its patience and understanding while the essential infrastructure works are undertaken.
