Work to repair and stabilise sections of Wallaman Falls Road is set to begin on Tuesday, October 6th with the project expected to continue through to February 2027, weather permitting.
The works, carried out by Hinchinbrook Shire Council in collaboration with Warrgamay Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, will address landslip damage and improve the safety and long-term resilience of the road.
Contractors will be working between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Saturday, with sections of the road reduced to a single lane while works are underway.
Motorists should expect delays of up to 30 minutes and allow extra travel time when heading to or from Wallaman Falls. Drivers are asked to follow traffic signs and speed limits and check the electronic signboards at the base and summit of the road for the latest traffic conditions.
Some stages of the project may require temporary closures of up to one hour, while more significant works could result in full-day road closures. Updates will be provided as the project progresses.
