Springtime Afternoon Tea To Support Meals On Wheels

An afternoon of heartwarming community spirit will grace Abbott Street’s Mercy Hall on Sunday 30th August when Hinchinbrook’s Catholic Women’s Group presents a vibrant Springtime Afternoon Tea all in support of Ingham Meals on Wheels.

Catholic Women’s Group’s Jeanette Cockburn said selecting Ingham Meals on Wheels as the beneficiary of this August’s Afternoon Tea was an easy decision, and she hopes the community will rally behind the group’s efforts to support one of the region’s most celebrated organisations.

“When we host an Afternoon Tea, we support local groups in our district, and this time, we choose Ingham Meals on Wheels,” she said.

Comprised of several selfless volunteers, Ingham Meals on Wheels has been a treasured community service group since 1983, providing meals and connection to vulnerable members of the local community.

“We all know that they [Ingham Meals on Wheels] do a great job in our community, and there are a lot of people in the parish who use their services, and this Afternoon Tea will support them and the work they do.”

Commencing from 2pm, the afternoon will entail a cent sale, several raffles, and, to add a touch of excitement, a special Lucky Door Fashion Parade by Bossi Boots! In previous fundraisers, up to a hundred attendees have filled the hall, and Ms Cockburn hopes to see another wonderful turnout for this month’s event.

“It’s really just a light-hearted afternoon tea for people to get together with friends to have a social outing where everyone can enjoy a few things like a fashion show, maybe a bit of singing, and to just have a nice afternoon tea together all to help raise funds for a cause,” said Ms Cockburn.

Attendees will be seated in tables of 12, and those interested in coming along are encouraged to purchase tickets from St Patrick’s Parish Office, located at 18 Abbott Street, Ingham or call 07 4776 2600 for more information.
