Hinchinbrook’s sporting talent was celebrated in style last week as the Ingham Lions Club hosted its 2026 Sports Star of the Year Awards.
From rising juniors and accomplished seniors to masters competitors, teams and the volunteers behind them, the evening recognised the breadth of achievement across the district.
Australian sprinter Jake Doran joined the judging panel and praised the opportunities available to regional athletes, while major awards went to Joshua Gurnick-Stagnitta, Lucas Masters, Filipe Tabu and the Northern Regions Open Boys Squash Team. The night also celebrated the dedication of local volunteers who continue to keep Hinchinbrook sport thriving.
