Townsville Catholic Education is strengthening its commitment to addressing the national teacher shortage by expanding its suite of scholarships designed to support emerging educators.

Aimed at Year 10 high school students and university students with a passion for teaching, the 2027 Shaping Future Educators Scholarship Program provides students with opportunities to access financial assistance, practical experience and a clear, supported pathway into the profession.

This program has been carefully structured to guide aspiring teachers at key points in their learning journey. Year 10 students at Townsville Catholic Education schools can undertake a Certificate III and university-level education subjects at no cost, with optional school placements, and the chance to apply for a second scholarship when they begin their teaching degree.

University students in their first or third year can access up to $10,000 in financial support, along with professional development, final-year teaching experience, and weekly placement allowances.

“These scholarships are an investment in future educators, offering meaningful financial support, mentoring and real-world learning opportunities,” said Louise Vella-Cox, Acting Executive Director.

Applications for the 2027 Shaping Future Educators scholarships are now open and will close on 30th September 2026.
