Award winning singer Damien Leith is set to bring a very special show to Ingham, showcasing the wonderful music of Roy Orbison. This show however, is far more than just a tribute, encompassing the music of Orbison’s circle such as the Travelling Wilburys as well as special new tracks co-written with Joe Melson – Roy Orbison’s long-time collaborator. The show is a long time in the making and was formed through incredible circumstances, as an Australian Idol performance of Orbison’s song ‘Crying’, attracted the attention of his widow all the way in Nashville. This led to a series of life-changing events in which Damien was ingratiated into Orbison’s inner circle. “She called me and said she liked my version. She liked how I made it my own. Three years later she asked me to fly over to Nashville to record an album of his songs in my style to celebrate what would have been his 75th birthday”, said Damien. “It was a huge honour. I got to work with a whole bunch of people associated with Roy Orbison.” As he got acquainted with Orbison’s circle, Damien met Joe Melson, co-writer of some of Orbison’s biggest hits. The two begun a fruitful collaboration, writing songs that are set to appear on the new tour. “We’ve written a bunch of songs. When people hear it, they get a sense of that era of music, but it also has a new spin”. The performance is a special solo acoustic showcase. One voice, one guitar, and one incredible repertoire. “The stripped back nature of the show grants a lot of freedom in the performance. It’s weird – I’ve done shows with a full orchestra but at the same time I found I’m enjoying myself more in these really intimate settings”. New to the region, Damien is incredibly excited to perform in Ingham for the first time. “I’ve grown up in regional areas. The reception to music is always really good. Really wholesome.” Speaking to Damien, we reflected on the amazing legacy of Roy Orbison, as his music continues to receive praise six decades after it was released. “People still buy CDs. They still come to shows. There are loads of people playing his stuff in different formats. He has a unique voice, and his songwriting was so different.” Damien Leith promises a night you won’t forget. The calendar has ticked over to March and rehearsals are well underway for the Ingham Theatre Group’s first offering of 2026. “In Good Audience” is the moniker for a collection of short plays and sketches sure to tickle the collective funny bone. Familiar faces will be joined by some enthusiastic newcomers to present a variety of content with the unifying theme of good fun. For the first time, the production heads out to Forrest Beach and the spacious Progress Hall with evening performances on Friday, March 27th and Saturday, March 28th commencing at 7pm and a first-ever matinee on the Saturday at 2pm. Doors will open an hour before commencement, and refreshments will be available. Tickets are available online at hinchinbrooktickets.com.au and at the door. Adult entrance is $20 and the student, senior and concession price a mere $10. And, as one character remarks in the first play – the best part of going to the theatre is that there are no ads! Except, perhaps, a reminder that the ever-popular theatre restaurant season will return in August so there is more fun to look forward to. See you at the show!

The Ingham Theatre Group invites audiences to some hilarious Cairo chaos in the new Comedy Theatre Restaurant this August!
The Ingham Theatre Group is calling on all would-be pharaohs, market traders, and desert explorers to join them for an unforgettable evening of laughter and entertainment with their latest production, Wink at the Sphinx.
Set in the vibrant and chaotic heart of a Cairo bazaar, this original comedy delivers a night of larger-than-life characters, wild antics, and hilarious moments, all served with a generous side of delicious food. Performed in a theatre restaurant format at the Ingham Bowls Club, the show includes a full meal and plenty of audience interaction, making it more than just a performance - it’s a full night out!
Tickets are $65 each and are on SALE NOW from Barnes Sewing Centre in Ingham. Cash and card payments are accepted.
Audience members are encouraged to dress up for the occasion. Whether it’s a glamorous Egyptian queen, a desert traveller, or a dodgy camel dealer, costumes are part of the fun and add to the atmosphere of this unique event.
“This isn’t just a play – it’s an experience,” said director Greg Provians. “Wink at the Sphinx is all about fun — it’s fast, silly, full of energy, and made for people who want to laugh and be part of something different.”
Known for their original productions and community spirit, the Ingham Theatre Group once again showcases local talent in this laugh-out-loud comedy, perfect for groups, work parties, or anyone looking for a great night out with a difference.
Performances will be held across two weekends, with Opening Night set for Friday the 15th of August, 15th & 16th, 22nd & 23rd, 28th, 29th & 30th. Doors open at 6pm with dinner at 6:30pm, and for more information and updates, follow the Ingham Theatre Group on Facebook.

Crowds flocked to the Ingham Showgrounds last Thursday and Friday, both as participants in the various competitions and as fair-goers. From cattle, show jumping, and woodcutting to art, poultry, cane, and floral displays—it was a true feast for the eyes.
Between the more serious competitions, there was entertainment for all ages: pig, duck, and sausage dog races, camel rides, along with a whip-cracking stockman show, were just the tip of the Show iceberg.
Loud music and joyous screams filled the air as the colourful lights of the rides lit up the night. With dagwood dogs in hand, many agreed—the Ingham Show was the place to be.

Room No. 14
Footsteps are heard along the corridor,
A door has just banged shut!
There is the sound of running water,
The tap is then turned off.
Perhaps the guest had retired
For the bed is heard to squeak.
During the night the running tap is heard
again and again..........
Then left to drip, drip, drip.......
The Housemaid checks next morning but-
No house-guest checked in last night yet -
The door is found wide open - clipped back,
But there is no one in sight.
Strange - the basin is full of water
From the dripping tap,
Yet nothing has been disturbed,
No one had slept in the bed......
At the grand old Station Hotel,
These sounds are only heard
When the room is vacant, for -
Rather noisy, never seen,
Is the friendly ghost
That occupies Room No 14.
