The 29th Annual Ingham Rod & Reel Club Light Tackle One Day Shoot Out took place in glorious weather on the 31st October 2026. Whilst only a small field, the competition was hard fought for the Malcolm Florence Memorial Shield.

‍

In the end Team Big Horns, captained by our humble club president Paul Dametto and his deck hand Shane Cosentino came away with the win, followed closely in second place by Team Gracie, the husband and wife team of Clint and Kate Lyon with Team Ebb n Flo coming in third, another husband and wife team that this tournament means a lot too, Anthony and Bridie Florence.

‍

Champion Male Angler in 2026 was none other than Paul Dametto. Well done Paulie!  Second place was his deckie Shane Cosentino who apparently wasn't quick enough to the rod to beat the skipper to the trophy fish!

‍

Making her debut to this competition this year Kate Lyon had a cracking day taking out taking out Champion Female Angler. Closely followed in second place by Bridie Florence.

The big winners of the day however, were the dark horses in the field Red Dog - with a total competition score of 0 they still managed to take home the big prize of a bottle of Screwball! Marty Cram as skipper took full credit for the teams success on the day!

‍

The Ingham Rod & Reel Club will host the 30th Malcolm Florence Memorial Light Tackle Shoot Out in 2027. If you are a serious game fisherman or just want to give light tackle a crack get in touch with the club to register your interest as soon as possible as we hope to put on a 30th anniversary event that does justice to the legend of our sport Malcolm Florence in 2027!
