Member for Hinchinbrook Wayde Chiesa would like to share that the State Government has completed repairs to the Balgal Beach boat ramp ahead of schedule, restoring full access to the important community boating facility.

The project repaired flood damage sustained in 2025 and included works to strengthen the ramp and improve its resilience. Mr Chiesa said the project showed the Queensland Government’s commitment to safe, reliable marine infrastructure.

"It is great to see these works completed early, with the Balgal Beach boat ramp now fully operational ahead of the busy spring school holidays,” he said.

"These works have repaired flood damage, strengthened the facility and improved its resilience to future high-flow events.

"We know the Balgal Beach boat ramp is a popular facility for local boaties, and I thank the community for its patience while the ramp was closed.

"The renewed ramp will help support safe and enjoyable boating for locals and visitors for years to come."

Works conducted by Maritime Safety Queensland included replacing damaged pre-cast concrete planks, reconstructing the lower sections of the ramp, strengthening the foundation and installing scour protection for future high-flow events.

‍

The renewed facility provides local boaties, fishers and visitors with reliable access to the water and supports recreational boating in the region.
