Volunteering North Queensland (VNQ) is returning with another ‘Back To Basics’ Volunteer Workshop series, designed to strengthen volunteer-led groups, build confidence and improve day-to-day operations for impactful organisations across the region.
The interactive sessions are designed specifically for grassroots community groups and not-for-profit organisations, providing practical tools and real-world strategies that volunteers can apply within their own organisations.
The workshops will focus on strengthening the foundations of community organisations, covering important topics including strategic planning and good governance.
The first workshop, How to do a Plan on a Page, will help volunteers simplify their strategic planning process by identifying priorities, setting achievable goals and creating clear direction for their organisation. Participants will receive practical resources including a one-page strategic planning template, priority-setting frameworks and examples to help turn ideas into action.
The second workshop, Good Governance: Not-For-Profit Health Check, will focus on helping committees understand their responsibilities, improve governance practices and maintain compliance. The session will cover key responsibilities following an Annual General Meeting (AGM), committee roles, reporting obligations and practical steps for incorporated associations and not-for-profit organisations.
Both workshops will be held at the TYTO Conference and Events Centre, with multiple session times available to suit volunteer schedules.
The Plan On A Page workshop will be held on Thursday 23rd July 2026, with sessions running from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
The Good Governance: Not-For-Profit Health Check workshop will be held on Friday 24th July 2026, with sessions from 8:30am to 10:00am and 10:30am to 12:00pm.
These free workshops provide a valuable opportunity for local volunteers and community leaders to connect, share ideas and strengthen the organisations that support the Hinchinbrook region.
Council encourages all grassroots community groups and not-for-profit organisations to take part and benefit from these practical sessions.
