Entries Now Open For The Hinchinbrook Art Awards!

Artists from across North Queensland and beyond are being invited to enter the 48th Hinchinbrook Art Awards, with entries now open through TYTO Regional Art Gallery.

For almost five decades, the Hinchinbrook Art Awards have provided a platform for artists to showcase their work, connect with the local arts community and compete for a range of prizes recognising artistic excellence and creativity.

The 2026 Awards are open to artists of all experience levels, from established artists and emerging creatives to young people taking their first steps into the exhibition world.

Works can be entered across a range of sections, including Painting (2D), Watercolour, Mixed Media, Digital Art, Works on Paper, Photography, Ceramics and Sculptural Form.

The major prize is the $3,000 Open Award Acquisitive, awarded to the best work across all sections with the winning artwork being acquired by Council.

Other awards include the $800 Local Artist Award, $400 Indigenous Artist Award, $400 Youth Award and $400 People’s Choice Award. Section winners will also receive $350 each.

Artists have until 4pm on Monday, 28th September, to submit their entries and artwork must be delivered to TYTO Regional Art Gallery between Friday, 23rd October and Friday, 30th October, from 10am to 4pm daily.

The exhibition will officially open with the Awards Night at 6pm on Friday, 13th November. Entrants must attend the Opening Night or nominate a representative to attend on their behalf.

Artists interested in entering can find the entry information and forms on the TYTO Regional Art Gallery website.

Whether your work is traditional, contemporary, experimental or something completely different, the Hinchinbrook Art Awards offer an opportunity to put your creativity on display and be part of a long-running celebration of the region’s artistic community.
