Curious about where your family came from or who lived in the Hinchinbrook district before you? National Family History Day is offering locals an opportunity to uncover stories from the past and explore the records that help piece together a family tree.

Hosted by the Ingham Family History Association, the event will be held at Hinchinbrook Shire Library on Tuesday 18th August, bringing together a range of historical resources and knowledgeable helpers to guide visitors through their research.

Attendees can explore maps, burial registers, family photo albums, Pugh’s Almanac and local history books documenting families from across the district.

The Ingham Family History Association will also be on hand throughout the event to answer questions and offer guidance to those beginning their family history journey or looking to take their research further.

For those who already have photographs, documents or memories connected to the district, the morning also provides an opportunity to share stories and connect with others with an interest in preserving local and family history.

Whether you are an experienced family historian or have never searched for a relative before, National Family History Day offers a chance to discover more about the people and places that shaped the community.
