The Cassowary Coast went bananas for National Banana Day this week, with children at schools, preschools and sporting clubs joining the fun on 7th October. Local gyms in Tully, Mission Beach and Innisfail also got into the spirit, offering free workouts in exchange for the ‘meal in a peel’.

But beyond the fun was a celebration of one of the region's most important industries, built on generations of farming families and supported by local and international workers.

From everyone who joined the celebrations (and enjoys the local product) — to the growers, workers and families who put in the hard yards, season after season, through blazing sunshine, tropical downpours and the occasional cyclone — thanks a BIG bunch!
